Mend it

Mads do & Mend CIC exists to create a world in which everyone has access to opportunities to mend and repair their clothing. Our social aim is to offer this to all people no matter their circumstances. We give chances to learn through sewing and repair, and teach the vital skills to ensure peoples clothing and textiles last longer lessening the load on the environment. We impact through our teaching by facilitating workshops that allow people to not only develop skills, but also connect with the wider community through our projects. Within our groups we create an honest and open environment for supported conversations and active listening. We develop the valuable mending skills through teaching with the aim of encouraging you to carry on the practice at home. Mending can offer us moments to build connections with others as well as give us time and space to reflect.

Mission Statement

To empower people and communities to mend their clothes and mend themselves through craft and creativity.

Our Values

Sustainable we teach practical skills to help people repair their clothing. This ensures the clothes we already own stay in circulation for longer and by adopting sustainable practices we aim to encourage conversations and actions that look at the wider global impact we have on the environment

Learn we are here to help you make the project ‘you want’, our practitioners are there to guide you in your creative journey and foster a collaborative and encouraging approach

Support we create safe spaces for supported conversations and active listening.  While we make, we sometimes talk and always encourage people to be themselves.

Community through the development of our workshop programme and meet-ups we create spaces for people to come together, feel supported, learn new skills and create communities

Collaborate working with like-minded partners and organisations to create opportunities for people to learn essential skills through mending and crafts

Resilience craft and sewing offers us opportunities to work collaboratively with peers, but also work independently in a mindful and reflective way

Creative- Nurturing creativity by giving opportunities to those who have limited access to the arts and craft
